History

- 1810 Two-year courses of dentistry for barber-surgeons (Zahnarzt) were started at Charles University
- 1827 Prof. František Nessel (1803–1876) offered optional lectures in dentistry
- 1882 – The University was divided into Charles University and Ferdinand University
- 1897 – The Society of Czech Dentists was established. - Prof. Eduard Nessel (1851– 1920) continued to teach dentistry
- 1921 – The Clinic of Dentistry of Charles University was established
- The Clinic was run by: Prof. Jan Jesenský, MD (1870–1947)
- Prof. František Kostečka, MD (1893–1951)
- 1945: the 1st Department of Stomatology was established
- 1948: the 2nd Department of Stomatology was established
- The two departments merged in 2001 to form the current Department of Stomatology
